AS THE countdown to the Assembly elections hots up, the national leader of the Green Party will take to the stage in Fishguard next week.

Natalie Bennett will be conducting a tour of the Mid and West Wales region and will be visiting Fishguard for a panel event, themed death by a thousand cuts, which will be a platform for a "speakers and debate" event.

The event will take place on Tuesday, March 22, at 7.30pm at Ffwrn, Main St, Fishguard, SA65 9HH, and is free to attend.

Confirmed speakers also include Chris Overton of Save Withybush Action Team, Paul Rutherford, local bedroom tax and anti-cuts campaigner, as well as a spokesman from Save Our Sixth Forms Pembrokeshire.

A Green Party spokesman said: “We hope that this event will help to highlight the impact that cuts are having on all of our public services and infrastructure here in Pembrokeshire. We also hope to discuss and debate what steps we could and should be taking here in Wales to oppose cuts as well as what we think the National Assembly for Wales Government should be doing to stand up for the people it represents. Can the next Welsh Assembly Government oppose cuts? If so, how?”

There will also be a Q&A session with Green Party candidates including Alice Hooker-Stroud, who is the Wales Green Party leader and "lead list candidate" for the Mid and West Wales region in the upcoming elections.

Frances Bryant and Valerie Bradley, the respective candidates for Preseli Pembrokeshire and Carmarthen West & South Pembrokeshire will also take questions.

There will be limited space available for stalls. Contact Jim Scott pembsgreenparty@gmail.com or call 07814089250
