WORK to re-model Neyland Athletic Club and create a state-of-the-art 'community hub' is underway.
The first step in the project is to re-position the current rugby field, shifting the pitch to the north, in order to create space for the new Hub next to the existing bowling green.
Diggers have been on the site in recent weeks, removing the hedge to the north of the fiels.
Funding for the enabling work has come from the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), to the tune of almost £15,000, with the Athletic Club funding the other £5,000.
Contractors will be returning in the summer months to complete the required levelling, drainage works and seeding and the pitch will be in its new position in time for the start of the 2016-17 rugby season.
County councillor Paul Miller, who has been leading the Hub project, said: "There's still a lot to do before we can get going on the Hub for real but we've never been closer to delivering this fantastic new community facility for Neyland."
