A MEDIEVAL re-enactment group is looking for new recruits to help it bring history to life.

Landsker, the Pembrokeshire based early medieval re-enactment group, aims to portray the Welsh in Deheubarth 1,000 years ago, as well as the Vikings who raided the coastline and the Normans, who after the English conquest by William the Conqueror, made inroads into Wales.

Through interactive 'living history' exhibits displaying authentic crafts and daily life and fully competitive arena combat, the group tries to entertain and educate through well-researched artefacts and contemporary sources.

The group currently consists of 14 members, including five children, and wants to swell its ranks.

Group leader Michael Harris said: "The group was set up around the end of 2010 and although we have travelled the country being involved with national events, we now want to turn our focus into nurturing our own group and being more active within the county of Pembrokeshire.

"Our primary aim is to entertain and inform through a hands-on approach, and the more people we can get interested in history, particularly that which happened in this part of the country between the Viking invasions and the death of William, the better."

Landsker is a family friendly group and all are welcome, and can be contacted at landsker.re-enactment@outlook.com, be found on Facebook and Twitter @LandskerRA.
