Payout date for Kwik Save employees

Kwik Save staff will be paid redundancy later this month according to worker's union Usdaw.

In a press statement issued at 1pm Monday they union said they are currently contacting Kwik Save members who were made redundant last week to let them know they should get their redundancy pay on June 21.

The union has met with senior Kwik Save managers to emphasise that closing 79 stores overnight was not appropriate notice to loyal employees.

One of the stores that closed was the Pembroke Dock outlet that employed seven members of staff.

Usdaw National Officer Joanne McGuiness, said: "Usdaw had no prior knowledge of the closures but we scheduled a meeting with Kwik Save to make sure our members would get the money they were entitled to.

"Usdaw will now be contacting our Kwik Save members to tell them that they will be paid on June 21 which we hope will help set their minds at rest during what is a worrying time for them.

"Usdaw's full time officials will be helping our members through the redundancy process and any of our members who are unsure about what they are entitled to should get in touch with us as soon as possible so we can make sure they claim every penny they are entitled to."

He went on to say that Usdaw officers will also be passing on contact numbers for telephone enquiry lines at Morrisons and United Co-op.

These companies have indicated that they are interested in talking to former Kwik Save staff about possible vacancies as they have exactly the right blend of experience and skills that would benefit their businesses.
