RAIN failed to stop the fun at Green Acres Animal Rescue Centre's annual open day, with a paws-itively brilliant £9,000 raised.

On Sunday, July 24, more than 1,000 dog owners and other animal lovers attended the Talbenny centre's fun day, with dog shows, agility competitions, falconry displays, stalls, bouncy castle and more.

There was also a chance for visitors to meet some of the animals in the centre's care, all of whom are looking for a loving home.

And the puppy eyes worked a treat, with 26 adoption applications made on the day.

A total of £8,906 was raised, which was topped up to £9,000 by a very kind donation from Stu Phillips of BWY Canine.

"We would like to thank everyone that braved the rain to make the day possible, and our official sponsors Fenton Vets and Burns Pet Nutrition," said Mikey Lawlor, of Green Acres.

The grand raffle winners were first prize Luke Butland £100, second prize Kirsty £50 and third prize of a dog hamper went to Mrs Price.
