URBAN music, arts and dance activities are being offered to young people at Milford Marina during the school holidays.

For the second year running, the Port of Milford Haven has teamed up with the VC Gallery, Arts Care Gofal Celf, Milford Youth Matters, the Torch Theatre and Arts & Business Cymru to run ‘Under the Bridge’ on Friday nights below Hakin Bridge.

Each week, between 6.30-8.30pm, 11-18 year olds have the chance to get involved in free activities like break dancing and DJ workshops, which will not only help them socialise in a safe environment, but teach them new skills.

Anna Malloy, PR and communications manager at the Port of Milford Haven, said: “One of the aims of the project is to provide young people with fun, engaging activities on Friday nights while at the same time encouraging them to respect their surroundings at the marina.

"Some of the participants enjoyed the sessions so much last year that they went on to join classes and take part in summer clubs to build on the skills they learnt.”

Commenting on the project, chief executive of Arts & Business Cymru Rachel Jones said, “It’s a pleasure to support this excellent partnership for the second year.

"Under the Bridge achieved great results last year and we are delighted this relationship has been sustained and developed through CultureStep investment.”

A final celebration event will be held at the Torch Theatre on Friday, August 26, where an exhibition of the participants’ work will be on display and performances will take place.

Young people wishing to attend Under the Bridge can contact Milford Youth Matters on 01646 663137/ info@milfordyouthmatters.org.uk or go along to Milford Marina at 6.30pm on Friday nights.
