A FOOD bank charity that also provides clients with clothes and household essentials is desperate for donations.

On Wednesday, Pembrokeshire Action To Combat Hardship (PATCH) fed 34 people who otherwise may not have been able to eat.

Despite donations of surplus food from several local supermarkets, the charity - based in Milford Haven - is struggling to meet demand.

Shelves at two of its Pembrokeshire banks were completely emptied earlier this week, and the charity is in urgent need of tinned goods, such as meats, spaghetti, beans, rice pudding, vegetable and soup.

Dried pastas, noodles, long-life milk and other basics are also needed, as are kitchen essentials such as toasters and kettles.

PATCH is holding a cream tea fundraiser to bolster its funds on Friday, August 26.

Scones, jam and cream and hot drinks will be on offer at Suite 13 Cedar Court (near the library) in Milford Haven.

The event is being supported by Tesco and Marks and Spencer.
