DALE was buzzing over the Bank Holiday weekend, as visitors of all ages had fun in the sun while learning about the lifesaving work of the RNLI.

The community rallied together to host holidaymakers from across Pembrokeshire, and raise awareness and more than £3,000 for the RNLI.

The educational fundraising fete was organised by Hakin Point RNLI Branch (Milford Haven) and Sian Mathias and Simon Vickers, of the Griffin Inn.

Visitors were treated to educational talks about the RNLI from lifeguards, stalls, cakes, bouncy castle, barbecue and seafood paella, fete games, crabbing competition, ferret racing, live music from Rosey Cale, Garry Wale, Shooting Counters and an amazing raffle.

Angle lifeboat stole the show when it arrived at the crowded pontoon, giving more than 250 members of the public a rare chance to explore the vessel.

Said Sian: "Living and holidaying by the sea, it’s so important to raise awareness of potential dangers of the sea and to remind people to keep themselves as safe as possible.

"The event is a great opportunity to bring the community and visitors together to raise awareness of the volunteer lifeboat crews and the RNLI lifeguard service, while offering a fun day for all the family to enjoy and raise funds for this amazing cause that saves lives at sea."

She thanked the event sponsors, performers, and everyone who donated to the raffle, which raised £1,200.

"We would also like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the superb team of volunteers, including Milford Tigers Swimming Club, who gave up their time to help on the day in aid of the RNLI and to all who came to support the day, raising £3,022 is a huge achievement," she added.

"Special thanks to the lifeguards who came to the event and Lewis Creese (Coxswain) for bringing the Angle lifeboat and crew over to Dale pontoon.

"We are thrilled as the event was extremely well supported and it really is overwhelming how much support we had this year, we are now looking forward to next year’s event!"
