A SPECIAL service to remember local fishermen who lost their lives at sea was held at Milford Haven Cemetery on Monday (February 20).

Around 50 people came out to pay tribute to the crews of the Milford Viscount (April 1950), Richard Crofts (February 1953), Robert Limbrick (February 1957) and Boston Heron (December 1962).

The service was led by Father Harri Williams, and saw floral tributes laid by the Mayor of Milford Haven, Cllr William Elliott, and his consort Lloyd Jones.

Said Cllr Elliott: "It is important that we continue to support such occasions with respect, otherwise they become forgotten.

"Our history and heritage is very much of a fishing industry background and this particular service plays an important part of this.

"I am thankful to those that attended the service, especially as numbers are growing, and to Father Harri Williams, for his support for the service."
