MILFORD Haven Town Council will not be stepping in to save the town's paddling pool.
At a meeting tonight, councillors slammed a decision by Pembrokeshire County Council to cut the Rath pool's £1,000 budget.
Cllr Jon Cole said he was "disgusted" the authority could not find the money to help the town's children by keeping the pool open to the public.
He said it was regretful, but the town council should not be expected to take responsibility for yet another local resource.
Instead, he proposed writing to the county council to demand they continue to fund the pool.
He also asked that a petition calling on the town council to come to the rescue be redirected at the county council instead.
The petition, started by local man Brian Phillips, currently has 465 signatures.
But despite the outcome of the meeting, all is not lost for the Rath paddling pool.
Cllr Stephen Joseph, who is both a town and county councillor, has said he had already secured funding to save the pool for the coming year, and is working on a longer term plan to secure its future.
