A CADET from Milford Haven has been honoured by the High Sheriff of Dyfed.

Sea Cadet Conner Edwards, 16, recently received £125 from the High Sheriff's Young Persons' Charitable Trust.

He was one of eight young people to received a financial award, at an event in Carmarthen celebrating wealth of voluntary work undertaken across Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, and Carmarthenshire.

Conner joined the Sea Cadets in 2015 and is really enjoying the experience.

He has been chosen to further his training on the Sea Cadet Tall Ship Royalist, where he and others will get to boost their skills by sailing the ship.

The Trust was established by Colonel Dai Davies in his year as the High Sheriff in 2007, and has so far assisted 73 young people in pursuing their goals.

This year’s awards were presented to eight young people to assist them to undertake a rewarding expedition or visit.

In his final charity awards evening as High Sheriff of Dyfed, Professor Hughes, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, said: “It was great honour to present awards to these well deserving young people who are excellent ambassadors for their organisations.

"I will look forward to reading their reports on their experiences and I wish them all the best for their future careers."
