AN EIGHT-year-old girl had to be rescued by firemen, after climbing onto the roof of her primary school.

Police and fire crews were called to St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Pembroke Dock this morning.

Skyler Barnett-James, 8, who has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and suffers from anxiety, had climbed on top of a flat roof at the school.

Her mum, Kathryn Barnett-James, found out when she drove past to drop off her son off at the nearby Flying Start centre.

"I saw the police and then I saw her," said Kathryn, from Pembroke.

"She was right on the edge, we were worried she was going to fall."

Kathryn praised firefighters, who spent more than 20 minutes trying to win Skyler's trust, so they could bring her down.

But Kathryn is angry the school did not call to notify her of the incident.

The headteacher of St Mary's has declined to comment, but a Pembrokeshire County Council spokesman said: "This was an isolated incident that was quickly resolved with the help of the police and fire service."
