YOUNG people from across the county were dancing the weekend away at the Torch Theatre with the D17 Dance Festival.

On Saturday and Sunday the Milford Haven theatre hosted Arts Care Gofal Celf’s annual event which showcased the enjoyment and wellbeing benefits of participation in community dance.

This is the eighth annual ‘D’ Festival and it brought together people of all ages and abilities to get their dancing shoes on.

The festival included workshops led by a range of professional dancers and performances by Arts Care Gofal Celf’s community dance groups, dance students and dance companies from across South Wales.

This year’s event attracted around 600 people who in addition to dance were able to participate in arts workshops, including graffiti art, splatter art, dj-ing and creative badge making.

Arts Care Gofal Celf’s Director, Chris Ryan, said: “It was a great pleasure to see so many people enjoy taking part in and watching high quality dance activities and so many families having great days out together. The Torch Theatre have, once again, provided great support in the planning, staging and management of the event.

“Our ‘D’ Festivals are an important showcase for us to demonstrate the impact that participation in high quality arts can have and to provide an opportunity for dance groups of all kinds to share what they have been learning in a friendly and inclusive environment.”
