A FUNDRAISING campaign has been started for a young mum facing every parent’s’ worst nightmare after her unborn baby died following a car crash.

Jasmine Mcginley has set up a GoFundMe for Emma Fairbairn’s baby Flynn who was “born sleeping” on May 28 at 24 weeks.

Emma, from Milford Haven, had been involved in a car accident near Steynton on May 25 which led to Flynn’s early arrival, weighing just 1lbs 6oz.

In the appeal for help with funeral costs Jasmine said: “After having a lovely pregnancy, on the 25th of May sadly Emma through no fault of her own was involved in a horrible car accident.

“Emma felt her baby kicking away in the ambulance and after waiting for a bed and having a physical examination she finally got to hear his heart beat at 3pm, but it was too fast so she was sent for a scan. The scan showed his heart beat has returned to normal and he looked completely fine.

“Everything seemed okay at this point... Emma got to Glangwili at 8.30pm for overnight observation. After she was settled and the midwife came to see her at 10pm to check his heart again. After half an hour of trying she couldn't find one so Emma was rushed off to a scan where she was told that unfortunately, they couldn't find a heartbeat anymore.

“Emma gave birth to her beautiful baby boy Flynn Fairbairn sleeping on the 28th of May, weighing a tiny 1lbs 6oz. As we can imagine Emma heartbroken, although we can't take away her pain we can help with funeral expenses to help give baby Flynn a perfect funeral.”

The GoFundMe has raised more than £800 in five days and Emma has said any left over money will be donated to charity.

Jasmine, who has also set a PayPal address (ForFlynn28@gmail.com) for anyone having trouble with the GoFundMe address, said: “Although she’s been through hell, every parent’s worst nightmare she’s still thinking of other.”

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the crash which happen at around 11.40am.

A police spokesman said: “The vehicles involved in the collision were a blue Fiat and a red Toyota. The drivers of the vehicles were taken to hospital. The road was clear just after 1pm.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Pembrokeshire Roads Policing Unit on 101.”
