A LONG-SERVING swimming teacher has had his career formerly recognised with a special award.

Daryl Sable has been teaching swimming and lifesaving in Pembrokeshire for 42 years and has been presented with a medal and Certificate of Recognition by the Royal Life Saving Society in its 2016-2017 Roll of Honour.

Mr Sable, deputy manager of Haverfordwest Leisure Centre, has worked for the local authority for the past nine years but previously was associated with Haverfordwest swimming pool which was run by a Trust.

Councillor Simpson said that over the years thousands of local people would have cause to be grateful for Daryl’s skills as a teacher.
