ON Saturday Neyland Ladies Choir took part in a massed choir concert in St Mary’s Church, Tenby, along with the Tenby Male Choir under the leadership of Ian Williams and Whitland Male Choir under the leadership of Juliet Rossiter.

Each choir sang a selection of their favourite pieces including Welsh hymns and songs, modern pop songs, songs from the shows and some classics.

The highlights were the pieces the choirs sang together, Calon Lan, Rachie, O Gymru, American Trilogy, You’ll Never Walk Alone from Carousel, Anthem from the musical Chess and the encore was the wonderful Morte Criste (When I Survey the Wondrous Cross).

Following the concert, the choirs enjoyed a get together with a wonderful buffet provided by the Tenby Choir and a sing-song.

Neyland Ladies Choir would like to thank Tenby Male Choir for organising this great celebration of singing in Pembrokeshire.

The following day the ladies were out again and sang at the Civic Service at St Clement’s Church, Neyland when the choir’s President, Cllr Dr Simon Hancock, was being installed as the town’s Mayor for another year.

There will be one more concert on Saturday, July 22, before the choir take a well-deserved summer recess. This is in aid of the Pembrokeshire Branch of the Parkinson’s Society and will be held in St Clement’s Church at 6.30pm.

The choir will reconvene in September and are already planning a 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner in October and a joint concert with Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir to mark Remembrance Day in November.

To round off the year of celebration there will be an anniversary Christmas Concert at Bethesda Chapel, Neyland in December.
