LAST week nine young people from Milford Haven attended the Walsingham Youth Pilgrimage. Walsingham in Norfolk has been a place of pilgrimage since 1061 and is known as England's Nazareth as it was there that a replica of the Holy House in which Gabriel greeted the Blessed Virgin Mary was built.

The Youth Pilgrimage has run for more than 20 years, where hundreds of young Christians gather together to; share their faith, enjoy worship, and spend time in fellowship with one another.

The Pilgrimage runs from Monday to Friday and each day the young people attend Mass, study the Bible, participate in activities and competitions and enjoy life on a campsite.

Members of the Prayer and Pizza Youth Group from St Katharine & St Peter's Church have attended the pilgrimage for the past five years, but this was the largest group ever to attend.

During the week the group played a leading role in the worship by forming part of the serving team and leading a drama based on a story from the Bible.

One member of the group even celebrated his 17th birthday on camp.

Speaking of the pilgrimage, Fr Harri Williams, Vicar of Milford Haven, said: 'The Walsingham experience is transformative for our young people.

"Not only it is an opportunity for them to deepen their faith, but they gain in confidence as Christians and meet new friends."

Prayer and Pizza Youth Group runs in St Katharine's Church Hall on a Sunday afternoon between 4.30pm until 6pm.

The group is aimed at young people aged between 10 and 18.

The group begins for the autumn on September 17.
