CONCERNS over aspects of a £1.5m plan to transform Neyland Athletic Club will be raised at a meeting tonight (Monday).

A letter, signed by five members of Neyland Town Council will go before full council at 7pm.

Cllrs Brian Rothero, Joanne Bevan, Tamzin Llewellyn, William McGarvie and Peter Hay say they have reservations over plans to sell the council's office in High Street and put the money towards the development of the town's athletic club.

The letter states: "We as a group are not against the project.

"However, there are a number of issues that have come to light since the orginal document was signed in April 2015 that do not show the full transparency of council actions towards this project."

The issue is expected to prompt a heated debate from councillors both for and against the plans, which were first agreed to in February 2015.

One issue likely to be raised is that the council has already agreed to contribute financially to the project, and may end up in a difficult position if it backs out of the deal.

The project - led by Neyland Community Interest Company (CIC) has already secured £500,000 of funding from the Welsh Goverment, and backing from Pembrokeshire County Council and The National Lottery.

Members of the public will be allowed to speak on the subject, if invited to do so by the council.
