WANT TO help make Neyland a nicer place to live?

A new community-led project hopes to improve the town for locals and visitors.

Neyland Improvement Group wants to hear your ideas about how to do this, whether it be by planting flowers or clearing footpaths.

It is hoped this new group will take over from the original Terraces Improvement Group, formed in 2007 to improve the Railway Terrace area and the walkway down to the Marina.

A lot of good work was carried out for several years but eventually cutbacks - combined with the increasing age of those residents involved - meant little work has been carried out in recent years.

It is hoped that a new, younger generation of volunteers will now come forward to improve Neyland by helping with planting flower borders, litter picking, improving the walkway down to the marina which has become overrun with plants and bushes and generally making sure the town looks the best it can.

"Please come along and let us have your ideas for improving our town’s environment," said town clerk Jane Clark.

A public meeting will be held on Monday, September 25, at Neyland Athletic Club at 7pm.

Anyone keen to know more, or lend a hand, is invited.
