FISHGUARD'S Theatr Gwaun will be bursting with musical magic at the beginning of half term as the long-awaited Magic of the Musicals show takes to the stage.

Put on by Fishguard Musical Theatre Society, a cast of 57 local people aged five to seventy plus have been practicing since June under director Clare Malone-Hallet.

Over the summer they showcased their talents at community events such as Fishguard Carnival, the Lions Fun Day as well as at the cruise ship welcome events.

The show is Fishguard Musical Theatre's second offering, its inaugural production of Whistle Down the Wind in May had sell out audiences and received standing ovations.

Magic of the Musicals will bring the best of the West End and Broadway to Theatr Gwaun with solos and chorus numbers from Matilda, Cats, My Fair lady, Annie, We Will Rock You and many more.

As well as showcasing vocalists who would make the X Factor contestants jealous the cast also has it fair share of accomplished dancers who excel on the stage, especially in the routines from Cats.

All profits from the show will go to Theatr Gwaun, it is director Clare's ambition to raise £10,000 for the theatre in 12 months and Whistle Down the Wind put her in good stead for that, raising an initial sum of nearly £3,000.

"It's been quite the journey watching everyone grow in confidence and see them enjoy learning routines and songs from The West End and Broadway," said Clare.

"Magic of the Musicals is a great family showcase of wonderful shows with wonderful costumes, brilliant voices, amazing dances and a little of that West End magic."

Magic of the Musicals shows at Theatr Gwaun at 7pm on Friday October 27, Saturday October 28, Sunday, October 29 and Monday October 30.

Tickets are available from theatrgwaun.com or at the box office (01348 873421) and cost £7 for adults, £6 Friends of Theatr Gwaun and £5 children.
