FISHGUARD Sea Cadets held their Sea Cadets Trafalgar Night celebrations last Saturday, October 21.

Seventy guests came to the Skirmisher for a drinks reception, a five course meal with traditional roast beef and Yorkshire pudding dinner prepared on board Stena Europe by Stena Line chef Rodney Clancy and his galley brigade, cooked by executive chef Lee Smith and served by the cadets themselves.

This year's dinner commemorated the 212th Anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar when the British fleet destroyed the combined French and Spanish fleets in what was probably the Royal Navy's finest achievement.

It was also T/S Skirmisher's 29th celebration of the event begun by Mrs.Pat Davies in 1989 and also the year of Skirmisher's 75th Anniversary. Guests this year included deputy district officer Lt. Simon Oglesby and his wife Chloe.

The cadets thanked Stena Line, route director Capt. Ian Davies and port manager Carl Milne for their continued support which helped to raise around £2500 for the unit. Also to Carol and Johnny Gittins who continue to keep T/S Skirmisher spick and span and to commanding officer Chris Peake, the officers, civilian instructors and cadets for keeping Fishguard on the Sea Cadet map.
