A MAGICAL £5,437 has been raised for Fishguard's Theatr Gwaun thanks to a sell-out show which took place over half term.

Fishguard Musical Theatre's Magic of the Musicals brought the best of Broadway and the West End to Theatr Gwaun, playing to full houses for four nights and receiving standing ovations at the end of every show.

The 57-strong cast of local people, aged five to seventy plus, had been practicing since June under director Clare Malone-Hallet and showcased dance numbers, solos and chorus numbers from Matilda, Cats, My Fair lady, Annie, We Will Rock You and many more.

All money raised from ticket sales and concessions will go to directly benefit Theatr Gwaun, Fishguard's community theatre.

"It was a great success," said director Clare. "We had four sell out shows and four standing ovations. We split the cast which meant that everyone got a chance to perform on at least two nights. The community loved it and supported it really well."

The society's next show is Brassed Off, a very special collaboration with Goodwick Brass Band showing at the beginning of December. Singers are also busy rehearsing carols to share at community events as a way of giving something back for all the support.

Auditions for their next project will take place in the New Year. For more information see Fishguard Musical Theatre's Facebook page.
