THERE were lights fantastic in Goodwick and Fishguard last week, as the twin towns turned on their Christmas lights with two nights of community events.

Goodwick’s lights were turned on by mayor, Janet Wyer on Thursday night accompanied by Christmas carols from Goodwick Brass Band and a visit form father and Mrs Christmas who haned out goodies to local kids.

Friday saw Fishguard’s third Light Night event. Goodwick Brass Band again provided a musical feast on the Golden Mile, as did Fishguard Musical Theatr Society, a countdown saw Fishguard’s Christmas tree shimmer into action followed by the street decorations.

Local shops stayed open late, there was Christmas craft in St Mary’s Church and the library and an impressive array of stalls, as well as santa’s grotto in the town hall.

“What a lovely two evenings of Light Nights for Fishguard and Goodwick this week,” said Mayor Wyer. “Rhey were both very different but both lovely in their own ways, and enjoyed by many.

“This is the first time that the town council has run this event, and it has been worth all the hard work to have such wonderful feedback from so many people , particularly regarding the ticket system for Santa and the different layout of the Market Hall.

Many, many thanks to all those who donated time, energy and goods into making both of them remarkable events. They get better every year.”
