GOALS from Rachel Coe, Kaitlyn Carlson and Anya Ackerman helped Milford Haven continue their good form with an an entertaining game at home to Cardiff University on Saturday.

The home team dominated the early exchanges, but were undone by a counter attack and trailed 10 minutes in.

However, the home side didn’t let their heads drop and were rewarded after as a quickly taken free hit was played into Coe, who turned sharply and finished well.

But towards the end of the first half it was Cardiff who took control, pinning Milford in their own half, but the home side held firm with some resilient defending led by player of the match Kate Farr.

And then it was Milford’s turn to score against the run of play, as a break down the left saw youngsters Kaitlyn Carlson and Zoe Eagle combine in the D, with the former claiming the goal.

Milford again made a bright start in the second half, but the away side who slowly started to exert pressure, with the home side finding themselves on the back foot in the latter stages.

However, again Milford countered and Ackerman finished well after being set up by Coe. 

The students didn’t give up though, clawing a goal back with a well worked short corner, but it proved to be a consolation as Milford held on.

Milford captain Emma Sumons said: “It was another solid performance by the squad. We dug deep against a good side.”

She added the side wanted to thank away kit sponsors Pembrokeshire Property Maintenance.

This week, Milford have a double header - Swansea University away on Saturday and Swansea City away in the cup on Sunday.
