THERE has been more good news for Fishguard's Lota Park after it was announced last Thursday that Pembrokeshire County Council has agreed to fund a piece of multi-play equipment.

The bespoke new apparatus will replace the large rusty green climbing frame in the centre of the park and includes slides, climbing walls, a climbing net, a fireman's pole, ladders, and bridges.

It is due to be installed at the park in March next year.

This will be the third piece of much-needed new equipment in the Fishguard park, in July a inclusive city team swing and a gravity bowl were installed in the summer thanks to a Welsh Government grant.

The new equipment has come at a cost of £30,000, including installation, the removal of the existing equipment and safety flooring and new safety flooring.

A Pembrokeshire County Council spokesman said the decision to renew the equipment was based on play equipment condition surveys and an annual equipment renewal programme.

"The programme indicated that this year the equipment at Lota Park was due for renewal, so the local county councillor and groups were made aware," said the spokesman.

"We liaised with the local county councillor who met with all the local community groups to choose the most suitable equipment from the submissions. The equipment ordered was based on the community's decision."

Lota park fundraiser are also fundraising for equipment at the park, recently abseiling down the keep of Pembroke Castle, holding a spinathon, a curry evening bingo night and raffles.

Park supporters are also taking part in the St Davids Mud Run this Saturday, December 9, and can be sponsored on www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/hayley-simpson-1.
