A FIRM that specialises in feeding furry friends has branched out to help families in need this Christmas.

Burns Pet Nutrition staff donated £500 to Pembrokeshire Action To Combat Hardship (PATCH), which is in dire need of assistance at this time of year.

Team members also donated pyjamas, store cupboard essentials and homegrown vegetables to the crisis support charity.

Carol Lincoln, community liaison officer at Burns said: “PATCH works all-year round to ensure that families and pets don’t go hungry.

"We are delighted to be able to help with this small gesture.”

Vicky Bassett, who organised the food and clothing haul among staff, said: “It breaks our heart that in this day and age, people and pets are still going without basic necessities.

"Food banks are closed for five days over Christmas, so it’s more important than ever to donate.

"If you can, please spread the Christmas spirit and give what you can to those who need help the most.”
