A NEYLAND woman has spread Christmas cheer to friends and family, and raised money for charity, all while undergoing counselling for a cancer diagnosis.

Amanda Davies recently donated £65 to Paul Sartori, whose support she says has helped her and her partner.

The money was raised by making and selling Christmas bauble wreaths.

Having got the idea from a friend, Amanda focused on raising funds for Paul Sartori and Macmillan, who each supported her through her illness.

Amanda said: “Paul Sartori's counselling team and palliative care support, especially Elvire Beijdorff and Lynn Hunter, have helped my fiancé and I get through it.

"I felt I couldn’t talk to family and talking to Elvire was helpful as she completely understood.”

Amanda has had a difficult journey with cancer, and an underling heart condition has caused issues for her, but she has remained positive and is planning an adventurous new year with many trips in her newly purchased camper van.

Lynn Hunter, registered nurse at Paul Sartori, said: “Amanda is a real inspiration to those suffering with life-limiting illness.

"She is very brave and focused.

"We are grateful for this donation which will contribute and allow us to continue to provide our vital services in the community.

"Only last year, we saw a rise of 25 per cent increase in the number of people we provided services to, so this donation will allow us to reach more people suffering with a life limiting illness.”

The Paul Sartori hospice at home service provides a range of services to people living in the final stages of a life limiting illness, including home nursing care, equipment loan, complementary therapy, bereavement and counselling support, clinical nurse specialist in palliative care, physiotherapy, advance care planning and training.
