MILFORD Haven Town Council will tonight decide whether to donate £1,000 to the town's secondary school.

An application from Milford Haven School to replace its current sound system was deferred from an earlier meeting, and will instead be discussed tonight (Thursday, February 15).

The school needs to raise £5,614 for the new sound system, and to cover the cost of new stage curtains.

Around £4,300 has been generated from school production ticket prices, but the council is being asked to help support the fundraising effort.

In an application to the council, it says its current equipment is 'not fit for purpose' and 'at the end of its life'.

"The school feels that if we had a modern sound system no only would it benefit the education of our pupils by improving the acoustics for everyday use - for example assemblies, concerts, certificate evenings - but it would also provide a modern facility for community groups to let or use," the application adds.

"In addition to this, it would equip our pupils with the experience and knowledge of using a modern sound system which may be of benefit to them in any future ventures or professional roles they take up."
