MILFORD Haven Town Council will donate £1,000 to the town's secondary school.

An application from Milford Haven School for funding to help replace its current sound system was discussed at last week (February 15).

The school now has the £5,614 it needs to buy a new sound system, and to cover the cost of new stage curtains.

Around £4,300 was generated from school production ticket prices, but this decision by Milford Haven Town Council brings them up to the full amount needed.

In an application to the council, the school said its current equipment is 'not fit for purpose' and 'at the end of its life'.

"The school feels that if we had a modern sound system no only would it benefit the education of our pupils by improving the acoustics for everyday use - for example assemblies, concerts, certificate evenings - but it would also provide a modern facility for community groups to let or use," the application added.

"In addition to this, it would equip our pupils with the experience and knowledge of using a modern sound system which may be of benefit to them in any future ventures or professional roles they take up."
