A MILFORD Haven couple and their new-born daughter and an elderly woman have been hit by two burglaries in the early hours of this morning, March 15.

Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating the two Coombs Drive burglaries, believed to have taken place at approximately 5am.

Naomi Thomas said: “We'd only been home a week with our new-born daughter.

"They took £260 cash that had been gifted to her, some cheques and my partner’s wallet, which had £60 cash in and all the usual bank cards/driver’s license, etc.”

Rebecca Sprowell, of Hubberston, whose nan, in her 80s, was burgled, said: “We think it was around 5am this morning. They got in through her back door and took a load of bags and coats, and we think my nan disturbed them, as she heard some noises, so she went down stairs.

“She found a coat and two bags in her garden, but her main bag and purse are missing.

“She had over £100 in her purse, as she is elderly and not very mobile she pays for people to cut her grass and clean her windows.

“There is also prescription medicine missing.

“Police and forensics have been this morning and taken statements; they also tried next door’s, and we found keys that didn’t belong to my nan in her kitchen and it turns out they are from next door.”

Sergeant Andy Williams of Dyfed-Powys Police said: “People living in the area are likely to see more police officers while enquiries continue to find the person responsible.

“Burglary is an upsetting crime so police are urging people to remember to carry out simple security measures to avoid becoming a victim. Thieves look for opportunities to steal but by remembering to take a few simple security measures we can take that opportunity away.

“Most important is to make sure all doors, garages and any other means of entry to houses, garages and outbuildings are locked and secure.”

Home Security Tips: • Lock your doors and windows every time you leave the house, even when you're just out in the garden.
