TWO Milford Haven primary schools will merge this September, under a new name.
Milford Haven Junior School and the Meads Infant and Nursery School will combine, to become Milford Haven Community Primary School.
The new school will continue to operate across both sites, with one headteacher.
The name was agreed by members of Pembrokeshire County Council's Cabinet earlier today (Monday, March 19).
Plans to merge the two schools were first discussed in March 2016, as a potential solution to overcrowding at the Meads.
At the time, the school was at 114 per cent occupancy for full-time pupils.
Despite building work and extensions, plus two mobile classrooms, the county council said further expansion on the existing site was not possible.
Milford Juniors was forecast to exceed capacity by 2020.
Plans to close the two schools and establish a 3-11 years school in their place were approved in March, 2017.
