EIGHT members of Neyland Judo Club took part in an invitational tournament in Cardiff recently.

Six juniors and two seniors took to the mats in what for many was their first tournament.

George Penney showed great skill when throwing his opponents to take the gold medal.

Jess Corbett really impressed on the mat, putting into practice all she has been learning and earning herself a well deserved silver medal.

Roxy Gale and Sienna Ledger showed great spirit battling their ways to bronze medals, as did Dylan Power and George Nichols, showing great determination and a variety of techniques.

In the senior section, Martin Phillips competed in his first tournament.

He had three fights in which he displayed a range of good techniques and fighting spirit to pick up a bronze medal.

Dan Goodridge was making his return to competitive judo after several months of intensive training.

He made great use of his drop shoulder throw to beat his opponents earning himself the gold medal.
