VOLUNTEERS from across Pembrokeshire have been recognised for their work in an awards ceremony.

PAVS Volunteering Pembrokeshire held a National Volunteers’ Week celebration event on June 6 at the Regency Hall in Saundersfoot to recognise and give thanks to volunteers giving their time and commitment in Pembrokeshire.

For the first time ever the judging panel could not decide the Winner in the ‘Individual aged Over 25’ category and awarded two winners.

This went to Rhian Bennett of Pembroke Dock Library and Gill Jones of the Paul Sartori Foundation.

William Elliott of Milford Haven Sea Cadet was also highly commended for this award category, and Teresa Evans of the Pill Social Centre was commended.

Colin Sharp of Milford Haven won the Trustee award for his work with PATCH, while Simon Morgan of Neyland AFC won the Mary Sigley award.

There were six award categories: Trustee, Individual aged Over 25, Individual aged Under 25, Group Over 25, Mike Beckett Award - Group Under the age of 25 and the Mary Sigley Award (where volunteering has changed the life of a person).

Cllr Michelle Bateman presented the awards ceremony with Abbie Beckett presenting the Mike Beckett Award.
