MORE than £1,000 has been raised to help the family of two siblings hospitalised following a serious road accident.

Danny Swift is currently fighting for his life in the Heath Hospital, Cardiff, after the motorbike he was riding was involved in a collision with a tractor on July 10.

His sister Cherie-Ann Perkins, who was riding with him that day, also sustained broken bones in her pelvis, hip and elbow, and was taken to Morriston Hospital in Swansea.

But after 12 hours of surgery, Cherie (pictured below)has made an incredible recovery, and has now been discharged.

However father-of-two Danny remains in intensive care, sedated, and with several surgeries still ahead of him.

“At this moment in time we are still unsure what damage has been done to his brain but he is fighting, so we are fighting,” said brother Gavin Beale.

“Danny continues to move ever so slightly which has kept us all going through such a frightening time.”

An online fundraising page, set up by family member Charlene Swift, has already clocked up more than £1,100 - enough to pay for 20 days’ accommodation, so that relatives can remain by Danny’s side in hospital.

Thanking those who have already donated, Charmaine Beale said: “We are all so speechless, overwhelmed and touched by the support and kind hearted generosity so many people have shown at such a difficult time.

“We don’t know how we will ever be able to thank you all for your kindness and warmth when we needed it most.

“It’s truly amazing how people come together, and you have all helped in so many ways to take a huge amount of stress and worry off us as a family.

“We can now continue to be close to our brother and sister.

“We want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.”
