PIRATES, bumblebees, crabs and carnival royalty dazzled despite the drizzle at St Ishmaels carnival on Saturday.

Heavy rain failed to stop play, as villagers of all ages pulled on their best fancy dress, filling up fantastic floats and ensuring the day was a huge success.

Samba Doc entertained with their brilliant beats, and the Shooting Counters kept the music going into the evening.

Dance group Tish Vibz claimed float victory, thanks to their magnificent Moana-themed entry.

Emily Lucas, who runs the group, said the result was an "amazing achievement" and thanked Laura Howells, Jo Bow, Jo Bradshaw, Ian Proctor and Andy Howells for their help.

"Thank you to all the incredible parents who walked with us in the pouring rain with smiles on their faces and last but not least my amazing Vibz pupils who all looked incredible today and danced their little socks off - absolute stars."

The prize money will go towards new gym mats for the group.

Jo Bradshaw, one of the organisers this year, said: "Thank you to everyone who made Tish carnival such an amazing day.

"We are overwhelmed with the kindness, generosity and support that we have received, and are truly grateful to everyone."

Special mentions went to James Findlay Electrical, Marc Devonald Plumbing, Robert Thomas building and plastering, Richard Thomas carpentry and Flowers and Favours of Milford Haven.
