Sixth formers in Milford Haven have been setting an example for youngers pupils in this year's A and AS Levels.

Head girl Izzy Coombe got two As and two Bs, and is off to study politics and international relations in Bristol, with ambitions of working in the media.

"I've wanted to go there for years, I'm so excited," she said.

"It's been my dream."

Head boy Thomas Carew earned an A*, an A and two Bs and has won a scholarship to study maths in Swansea.

"I'm really happy, the exams were so long ago I forgot how I had done, so yes I'm just so happy."

Natalie Thomas gained one A* and 3 As and has been offered a place to study History at Durham University.

John Disandolo earned an A*, two As, and a B, and will go to Cardiff to study computer science, with a view to a job in graphic design.

Ryan Hillen will study history in Aberystwyth, after earning a scholarship and getting the grades.

Mathew Mason will also move to Aberystwyth, where he has received an offer to study computer science.

Newly appointed headteacher Ceri-Ann Morris said: "We are delighted with the A-Level results.

"Year 13 have made further improvements at A Level compared to the previous year, achieving the highest results in the last four years.

"A* and A grades have seen a steady improvement, as well as A to C grades.

"In four of the five measures the school has seen an improvement on last year's results.

"Overall the pass rate A* to C rose by 9.1 per cent and the overall A Level pass rate was 97.5 per cent."

Outstanding performances came from Natalie Thomas, John Disandolo, Katy Blockwell and head boy and head girl Thomas Carew and Izzy Coombe.

Ms Morris thanked students and teachers for their hard work and dedication, and parent, governors and the wider community for their continued support.

Head of Sixth Form Kath Dootson said: "I would like to congratulate all the students on all their hard work and efforts throughout the year, culminating in the majority achieving their first choice of university.

"Again we see our students applying for a wide range of courses at institutions throughout the country, and I wish them all every success for the future."
