A WOMAN with cerebral palsy and learning disabilities is hoping others will follow in her footsteps, after completing a 186-mile journey around the coast of Pembrokeshire.

Karen Yearley completed the epic county coast path route this summer, and was greeted at the finish line by friends from Value Independence.

Value Independence is a community interest company based in Charles Street, that works with individuals of all backgrounds and circumstances to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.

Karen was the company’s first client 10 years ago, and has been supported by them ever since.

Despite having a back injury, Karen showed courage and determination to complete the coast path challenge, and says she has gained so much from her walks.

Not only has her fitness improved, but she has also gained confidence and self belief.

She said she enjoyed meeting new people along the way, and described the experience as a real “journey”.

Clocking up £600 in the process, Karen will put the funds towards setting up her own walking group.

She said she wants to enable others to enjoy the benefits she gained from the walk, and put into practice her newfound skills and love of walking.
