Technium gets boost with manager role

TECHNIUM Pembrokeshire is a step closer to becoming a thriving centre of energy excellence as a manager is now being sought on a salary of around £72,000.

Technium Pembrokeshire at Pembroke Dock gives businesses innovative facilities they need to develop cutting-edge technologies, products and processes.

The £10m project was developed by Pembrokeshire County Council in partnership with the Welsh Assembly and Swansea University, and is part of the Welsh Technium Network.

Technium Pembrokeshire is managed by the county council and opened for business in the spring.

Swansea University has an office there for its centre of environmental and energy law policy team and a power electronics laboratory is being equipped.

The council is now seeking a full-time technium manager to run the centre.

Duties will include marketing the Technium to potential tenants and helping the university to attract commercial research projects.

The manager will also work in conjunction with the economic development team to develop the energy sector in the county.

A county council spokesman said: "Technium is a long term investment with the aim of changing the structure of the economy over the next 15 or 20 years by incubating high value business and employment and supporting their development."
