Police have issued a warning about carrying knives after a man was stabbed in Pembroke Dock, this week.
Emergency services raced to the scene at a property in Hamilton Court, after receiving a call at 4.40pm on Tuesday, reporting that a man had been stabbed.
A male offender fled the property but, as yet, police officers have no information about where he went or even in which direction he headed.
The 41-year-old victim was taken to Withybush Hospital where he was treated for his injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.
The only description available of the offender is that he was wearing a zipped-up, black hooded top, which covered the majority of his face. Police enquiries are continuing and officers have asked that anyone with any information relating to the incident should contact Pembroke Dock CID.
Any witnesses who may have seen the hooded man fleeing the scene are also urged to contact CID at Pembroke Dock police station on 0845 3302000.
The victim has now been released from hospital after receiving treatment for what has been described as minor lacerations.
As the Mercury went to press no arrests had been made.
Superintendent Euros Lewis from Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Knife crime is an issue nationally.
“In Pembrokeshire we have taken steps to make people aware of the consequences of carrying a knife – this includes a knife amnesty and using metal detectors outside Continued from page 1.
nightspots.
“Young people may carry knives because they think it is the thing to do.
“But this case should show them one of the consequences of doing so.
“The threat to the public and police when knives get into the wrong hands is significant.”
This latest incident in the county follows the recent fatal stabbing of grandmother Kim Butler, whose body was discovered at a flat in Saundersfoot, in August.
Superintendent Lewis warned anyone carrying weapons to think again.
“If you carry a knife you maybe tempted to use it, or in fact it could be used on you, so don’t take that risk.
“Please do the right thing and dispose of it at a police station before you get arrested or injured,” he added.
