A FORMER Pembroke Dock man, who was described as a ‘frightening sight’ as he ripped off his shirt and jumped onto a police officer, appeared in court on Tuesday.

David Wayne Carter formerly of 18 Charles Thomas Avenue in Pembroke Dock, pleaded guilty to using words and behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm and distress and obstructing PC Thomas in the execution of his duty.

Two police officers were called to attend an ongoing domestic dispute at 18 Charles Thomas Avenue at 10.30pm on September 11.

The court heard how at around 11pm officers called for further assistance as Carter’s son was upset and angry.

Prosecutor Ellie Morgan said that Carter was acting aggressively and when officers went to arrest his son Carter antagonised the situation further.

The 44-year-old then ripped of his shirt and was described as ‘really wild’ and a ‘frightening sight’ as he jumped onto PC Thomas and began trying to pull him off as he arrested his son.

Carter who suffers from depression and anxiety, moved to an address in Cardiff last week to stay with family after splitting up with his partner.

Defending solicitor Alan Morgan said Carter was ashamed and embarrassed by his record of previous convictions.

Carter was given a 12-month conditional discharge for causing harassment, alarm and distress, and fined a total of £65 for obstructing PC Thomas and was ordered to pay court costs.
