An application for late opening hours at the Lord Kitchener pub, Milford Haven, is facing objections from the police and residents because of crime, disorder and noise.
The applicants, Alan and Meryl Power, have asked for a licensing extension to midnight Monday to Thursday and 1.30am Friday and Saturday. Presently the pub opens until 11pm.
In a letter to Pembrokeshire County Council’s licensing committee, which considers the application next Tuesday, police licensing officer Tony Davies claims the level of crime and disorder in the area of the pub is “unacceptable.”
He cites cases of the pub being caught serving two 15-year-olds and of another youth who was found guilty of committing grievous bodily harm after getting drunk in the Lord Kitchener.
Nearby residents have also sent letters to the council, one objecting because of noise and another complaining of “loud rowdy behaviour and vandalism” at closing time.
The area’s county councillor, Anne Hughes, has also raised objections based on noise.
Milford Haven Town Council, however, has recommended that the application is approved.
