Milford Haven will soon have two sites negotiating the arrival of LNG tankers.
The Dragon LNG terminal in Waterston has confirmed it will shortly be receiving its first commissioning cargo.
In a public notice, the plant assured residents that all safety measures are in place.
It reads: “Our multi-million pound facility is the result of international investment and satisfies all UK and European codes and standards.
“The site has been designed, engineered and constructed to assure safety, environmental compliance and reliability.”
Nearby residents are also set to receive a safety booklet with recommendations of how to act in the ‘extremely unlikely event’ of an emergency.
The site will be conducting its first audible test of the emergency siren at midday today (Thursday). Milford Haven mayor Tony Eden said it was positive that Dragon LNG is liaising with the local community.
“It’s the start of a new era for the plant and I am sure they are looking forward to it,” he said.
“The arrival of LNG tankers at the South Hook plant in Herbrandston was very successful, so we all hope for a repeat performance.”
A Dragon spokesman said details about the size of the tanker and arrival date would be released shortly.
The first LNG tanker, the Tembek, arrived at the South Hook LNG plant in February.
