Former addict admits four drugs charges

A Pembroke Dock man who had almost £200 worth of drugs seized from his house, insisted to police that they were not for personal use, a court has been told.

Paul Thomas, of 16 Bush Street in Pembroke Dock, pleaded guilty to four separate charges of drugs possession at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Ellie Morgan said that police executed a search warrant for Thomas’ home on June 10, where they found various drugs packages on his window sills and living room table.

She said that finds included £150 worth of cocaine, £20 of herbal cannabis, £11 of amphetamine and £9 of cannabis.

“In an interview with police, he said that the items were the remains of a former habit,” said Ms Morgan.

Defence lawyer James Subbiani insisted that Thomas, 33, firmly believed he had purchased amphetamine and not cocaine.

The presiding magistrate revoked the community order placed on Thomas in May, as medical evidence suggested he was unfit for skilled unpaid work. He was given a new order, placing him under 18 months supervision and ordered to pay £60 prosecution costs.
