Silver year for aviation group

A successful 25th anniversary year was reviewed at the annual meeting of the Pembrokeshire Aviation Group.

The group formed in 1984 to place a memorial on the Preseli hills crash site of a RAF Liberator bomber. Members make regular visits to the memorial and this year they were joined by Bill and Joanne Soroski of Saskatoon, Canada. Bill’s uncle, Billy Soroski, was one of the six crewmen who lost their lives in the accident.

In a busy autumn schedule, speakers included David Woodliffe of Chepstow, whose title was Memorials to the Fallen and Ken Bernau of Milford Haven, who recalled his time as a wartime pilot on Beaufighters and Mosquitoes.

At the agm, President John Tipton, chairman Geraint Pynn, other officers and committee were re-elected.

The meeting concluded with a presentation by Ralph Arnesen.

A full programme is planned for 2010. New members are always welcome at meetings, held on the second Tuesday of each month. For further details, contact Shaun Bowman-Davies on 01646 601861.
