An emergency meeting has been called to discuss policing in Neyland, after it was described by the town’s mayor as an “invisible force”.
At last week's town council meeting, it was revealed that one of Neyland’s police officers is currently on a six-month secondment and has not been replaced.
Councillor Judith Wilson expressed her dismay on hearing at the latest PACT meeting that police officers were being sent over from Milford Haven to deal with any incidents in the town.
Neyland’s mayor, Councillor Mike Harry, said: “We were unhappy at the policing levels before this news and this further raises concerns about the force’s priorities.
“It’s like we have an invisible force in the town.”
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: “PC Harrison has gone on a six-month secondment to the Prince’s Trust.
“She volunteered for the role which will help her develop her youth skills, which will be of benefit to the residents and young people of the Neyland and the Milford Haven rural area.”
The town council has called an emergency meeting with Chief Superintendent Dean Richards and has invited AM Paul Davies to attend.
