Shoppers dig deep for Haiti appeal

Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti two Milford Haven Rotarians have raised more than £1,300 in one weekend to help aid the Shelterbox appeal.

Rotarian and Shelterbox co-ordinator for South Wales, John Broughton, and fellow Rotarian, Martin Williams, spent a weekend collecting for the appeal outside the Milford Haven Tesco store and raised a total of £1,360.

Shelterbox, an international relief charity, is sending emergency shelter to people affected by the earthquake and each Shelterbox costing £490 contains enough equipment for a family of ten.

“People were very generous and we are already organising more fundraisers,” said John. A film night is planned at the Torch Theatre on April 28 with all proceeds going to the Shelterbox appeal for Haiti.

John is also looking for new Shelterbox volunteers to help with fundraising events and other ideas. Contact him via email at broughtonjohn@hotmail.com or phone 01437 781613.
