Saundersfoot Sports 1 Goodwick United 4

GOODWICK stayed in contention for the title with this important win away at relegated Saundersfoot Sports.

They went into the midweek games - Hakin away on Tuesday evening, Carew at home on Thursday - knowing that they could close to within three points of Swifts.

And Saturday sees Goodwick face the Swifts at home in what is a massive match and a potential title decider.

But on Saturday all eyes were on the job in hand and with Ryan Thomas back in the side, Goodwick had their fire power boosted.

Thomas set up the opening goal on 15 minutes when his cross picked out Lee Burrows who did the rest.

Ten minutes later and United had doubled their advantage. Burrows' shot was well saved by Saundersfoot keeper James Caine but Thomas was on hand to poke in the rebound.

Thomas scored the third before Saundersfoot showed that they do have some quality in their side when Steve Ruff lashed an unstoppable drive into the top corner of Carl Woodhouse's goal.

After the break Goodwick went into cruise control and, with the points wrapped up, scored once more to seal the victory.

Steve Blackford's free-kick was met by James Dean and he nodded home to start Goodwick's crucial week in the best way possible.
