TWO community workers from Milford Haven's Mount Estate took residents' concerns straight to the man at the top this week.

Prime Minister Tony Blair invited Colin Robbins and Joyce Walters to a reception at 10 Downing Street in recognition of their hard work at the Mount.

Colin went armed with copies of a recent residents' survey to demonstrate the issues affecting people living on the Mount, and was delighted when Mr Blair autographed one for him.

Colin said: "We took a copy of our report so we could present the Prime Minister with it but he also signed one for us which was nice. We were fortunate to have the chance to have a chat with him about government policies on community development, tenant empowerment and tackling anti-social behaviour and the work people like us do within the community. We were able to flag up issues we have on the Mount so it was a very worthwhile visit."

Joyce said meeting the Prime Minister was a wonderful experience. She added: "He spoke to us and said he recognised the work volunteers actually put into their communities. It doesn't go amiss with him that there are a lot of volunteers out there in the community doing a lot of hard work and it was nice to know how he appreciates that."

Colin and Joyce were also treated to dinner and a guided tour of the House of Commons by retiring Preseli Pembrokeshire MP Jackie Lawrence and the woman hoping to step into her shoes, Labour candidate Sue Hayman.
