Divisions 1 - 5

Borderers keep up winning streak

WHITLAND beat visiting FLEUR DE LYS by 32-5 to keep the pressure on Maesteg at the top of the table.

The Borderers opened up a 24-point gap by the break and always enjoyed the advantage up front with Randall Williams, Phil Morgan and Aperaamo Tauialo having good games. Hooker Tauialo scored one of Whitland's four tries alongside centres Lee Glanville and Eifion Roberts, before Aled Davies added a late try to go with three conversions and a penalty for a personal haul of 17 points. Winger Romilly Barnett crossed for 'Flower' after they were reduced to 14 men when hooker Craig Mitchell received his marching orders.

NARBERTH also enjoyed a good victory at BLACKWOOD as a late try by Elgan Vittle gave them an 18-13 final scoreline in their favour. The first half had been tied at 8-apiece with a penalty from outside half Paul Emmanuelli and a try by centre Jamie Jones, balanced by a penalty for Narberth pivot Scott Penney to go with a try by Otter full back Sion Brace.

Jones claimed another try in an equally tense second period and although Adrian Killa landed a penalty for Narberth after Penney had been replaced, the Otters were still two points behind until Vittle, who had switched to the No 10 spot, sliced through for a vital corner try which Killa did well to convert.

Division Three

TENBY UNITED went down 14-3 at home to high-flying LOUGHOR in a real battle at Heywood Lane. The visitors claimed their 13th victory in as many league matches, taking a 7-0 lead at half time with a try from tight-head prop Richard Bowen, converted by fly half Peter Smiriglia.

The Seasiders, who were well led by Nicky Allen, fought back with a penalty from outside half Scott McLaughlin but, try as Tenby might, they were unable to add any further points and Loughor sealed victory with a try from a forward drive, claimed by No 8 Nick Thomas, which Smiriglia converted from close range.

Division Four (West)

The match between CRYMYCH and FISHGUARD was postponed because of a water-logged Crymych pitch and will be replayed later in the season. Commiserations are extended from the rugby fraternity to Crymych coach Glyndwr Richards over the sad loss of his mother in midweek.

Division Five

ST DAVIDS found PENYGROES too hot to handle as they went down by 43-5 and the home side made up ground on the section leaders with games in hand.

Prop Jack Dudley scored for the Saints whilst Penygroes had tries by centre Jeremiah Akinale, winger Adi Mako, No 8 Phil Asby, outside half Leighton Rees, and winger Craig Daniels, who also converted one try alongside replacement centre Lee Evans (2) and replacement fly half Ceri Davies.
