Saundersfoot 2 Hakin United 2 HAD you offered a point to Saundersfoot before their clash with Hakin United it's a fair bet that the seasiders would have taken it.

But after leading by two goals to nil with just seven minutes to go, the home side were devastated as Hakin stormed back to claim a point from a game they looked like losing for long periods.

Earlier Andrew Hughes had finished well at the far post on the 30 minute mark to give his side something of a shock lead.

Hughes sneaked in on the blind side of the visitors' defence and headed past Hakin keeper Jason Morgan.

And that's how it stayed for the remainder of the first half as both sides worked hard at denying the other space.

Into the second period and although Hakin upped the tempo, it was Sports who doubled their advantage from the penalty spot.

Daniel Caine was brought down after an hour and Matthew Skeels took responsibility, rifling the penalty into the top left-hand corner.

It was backs-to-the-wall stuff for Sports now who had keeper Daniel Brace to thank for making at least half a dozen saves right out of the top drawer.

Hakin piled on the pressure and eventually made the vital breakthrough. With just seven minutes remaining, substitute Michael Cooper - thankfully recovered after a broken leg - headed past Brace to reduce the deficit.

Saundersfoot tried desperately to cling on but with five minutes left big defender Kristan Bennett gambled by staying up front.

The gamble paid off as he met a Steve Mathias cross and headed past Brace for the equaliser.

Hakin manager Paul Bowen said he was disappointed with the result but must be pleased that his side took at least a point.
